International Symposium on Synthesis and Catalysis 2023 (ISySyCat2023)

The fifth edition of the International Symposium on Synthesis and Catalysis 2023 (ISySyCat2023) that will take place at the University of Evora in the historically recognized mediaeval city of Evora from the 5th to the 8th of September 2023.

The city of Evora besides its striking beauty, uniqueness and hospitality is steeped in history having been the home to the Romans, the Moors, Visigoth's and others, including the kings of Portugal. It has UNESCO world heritage, and this walled city is the location of a Roman temple, palaces and old cathedrals.

The conference will focus on the following key areas:

  • Total synthesis.
  • Synthesis in Medicinal chemistry and chemical biology.
  • New reagents, catalysts, strategies and concepts for organic synthesis.
  • Biocatalysis in synthesis.
  • Organocatalysis.
  • Flow-chemistry approaches to the synthesis of key targets.
  • Applications of organometallic compounds in synthesis and catalysis.
  • Stereoselective synthesis.
  • Synthesis and properties of functional molecules and organic materials
  • Sustainable and Green synthetic and catalytic methods.
  • Process development of key pharmaceutical targets.
  • Computational tools for synthesis and catalysis.
  • Polymer synthesis.

The conference which will be live-on-line will be organized into 15 plenary lectures, delivered by a series of internationally recognized speakers from academia and industry (see below), 22 talks (selected by the scientific committee), and over 50 oral communications (selected by the scientific committee) and three poster sessions with prizes for the best posters and oral presentations.

Prof. Sarah O'Connor, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, Germany.

Prof. Joana Wencel-Delord, University of Strasbourg, France.

Dr. Jonathan Reeves, Boehringer Ingelheim, USA

Prof. Teresa Pinho e Melo, University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Prof. Francesca Paradisi, University of Bern, Switzerland.

Prof. Robert Waymouth, University of Stanford, USA.

Dr. Martin Hayes, Astra-Zeneca, Sweden.

Dr. Maud Reiter, Firmenich, Switzerland.

Dr. Michael Rack, BASF, Germany.

 

Conference Venue

The conference will take place in the old part of the University of Evora, in Colegio Espirito Santo (which was in former times a Jesuit college) which has world heritage and is situated in the southeast of Portugal, about 100 km from Spain.
